In honor of our dear friend, Liz Conrad, the Southern Breeze chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators established the Liz Conrad Conference Tuition Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to one budding illustrator in the children's book field and includes tuition to the annual conference and to Illustrators' Day or the Illustrators' Intensive, depending on the conference that year. This scholarship is open to Southern Breeze SCBWI members only and would be an impressive honor to add to one's resume.

Joining SCBWI automatically makes you a member of the regional SCBWI chapter where you live.

If you would like to apply for the scholarship email your application and submission to TeMika Grooms at southern-breeze-ic@scbwi.org. 

Applications may be submitted beginning December 1 of each year.

The deadline for submissions is January 15th.

• A color copy of your artwork as a jpg (300 dpi) attached to your email (original uncontracted work only)

• A brief bio including your educational background and interest in pursuing a career in the 
 children’s book industry (no more than a one page letter). 

The Rules:

• Previous winners are not eligible to participate.
• Register for Springmingle to secure early-bird discount. Winner will be refunded the registration fee for attendance.
